In the picture: De Sjel, muzikale kunstinstallatie op de stadsbegraafplaats van Leuven

Nog tot en met 28 maart 2021 kan je op de Stadsbegraafplaats ‘de Sjel’ bezoeken.
De Sjel is een rondreizende muzikale kunstinstallatie ontworpen door muzikant-componiste Patricia Vanneste en architect Sam De Bock.

Sjel is het Noorse woord voor ziel of essentie. De glazen kubus is omgeven door spiegels waardoor je jezelf ‘achterlaat’ wanneer je binnengaat, want het laatste wat je ziet, is je eigen reflectie. Aan de binnenkant van de kubus is alles van hout, wat meteen een ontspannen sfeer schept.
Bezoekers kunnen in dit muzikale toevluchtsoord luisteren naar “Coral Dusk”, een plaat die Patricia Vanneste componeerde en opnam tijdens haar soloreis door Zweden en Noorwegen. Op 16 oktober van vorig jaar, net voor de 2e lockdownperiode, stelde ze die plaat ook live voor in de 30CC/Schouwburg. Op de plaat is de muziek van Sohnarr te horen, haar eeste solo project na haar periode bij de Belgische indierockgroep Balthazar.

Op één van de binnenwanden van de Sjel staat – in het Engels – de volgende tekst: “Het is alleen door te durven luisteren en te voelen, door te verdwijnen in of achter jezelf en te versmelten met je omgeving, dat verbinding iets is wat fysieke leegte kan overstijgen.”

Praktische info
De Sjel is tot en met 28 maart 2021 dagelijks van 9 tot 18 uur te bezoeken op de stadsbegraafplaats van Leuven aan de Nieuwe Kerkhofdreef.

Een bezoek gebeurt coronaveilig volgens de volgende vooropgestelde basisregels:

-Kom alleen of met je gezinsbubbel van max. 4 personen
-Hou 1,5 meter afstand tot andere bezoekers
-Een mondmasker is verplicht
-Ontsmet je handen

Goed nieuws: de SJEL blijft nog even langer in Leuven staan. Tot en met 2 mei 2021.
En bovendien, ‘s avonds een uurtje langer open (19uur ipv 18uur)
